8 Days Chimpanzees, Gorillas & the Nile

A private primate journey that lets forest encounters feel meaningful, then finishes beside the Nile with enough time to absorb Uganda rather than simply move through it.

The journey

Two powerful forest encounters, then a place to slow down.

Kibale and Bwindi are very different forest experiences: chimpanzees bring energy and movement, while the gorilla trek is quiet, physical and deeply affecting. This route places them in a sensible sequence and avoids immediately rushing from one to the next.

A final Nile stay changes the texture of the holiday. It gives you an unhurried setting for time on the water, optional gentle activities and the chance to finish with the level of privacy and service you prefer. We confirm permits first, then build the surrounding journey with care.

Day by day

A forest-to-water rhythm.

We refine every travel day around the confirmed permits and the pace that suits your group.

Day 01

Arrival in Entebbe

Meet your private driver-guide and transfer to your selected Entebbe hotel. The evening stays light, with a clear briefing and time to rest after your international flight.

Day 02

Entebbe to Kibale: crater-lake country and forest edge

Travel west through Uganda’s changing countryside, with considered breaks and lunch arranged around the drive. Arrive at your Kibale-area lodge in time to enjoy the setting and prepare for the next morning’s chimpanzee experience.

Day 03

Kibale: chimpanzee tracking and a slower afternoon

Join the ranger team for chimpanzee tracking in the forest. The experience is active, atmospheric and different each day; other primates, birds and forest sounds are part of the reward. Keep the afternoon open for the lodge, a gentle walk or another forest activity chosen around your energy.

Day 04

Kibale to Bwindi: a planned transfer through western Uganda

Continue south toward Bwindi with a private guide who manages the practical rhythm of the journey. This is a real travel day, so we pace it honestly and select the overnight location to make the gorilla trek feel well prepared rather than compressed.

Day 05

Bwindi: mountain gorilla trekking

After the park briefing, trek with your ranger-led team to a habituated gorilla family. Terrain, weather and trekking time change, which is why the rest of the day remains intentionally open. Return to the lodge for a slow afternoon and a well-earned evening in the forest.

Day 06

A second forest day, your way

Choose a second gorilla trek, an unhurried community experience or time to enjoy your lodge. We use this day to give the route resilience and depth, especially for travellers who prefer not to make every moment an activity.

Day 07

From Bwindi to the Nile

Travel or fly through the practical schedule to your Nile lodge. The shift from forest to water provides a memorable closing chapter. Arrive in time to settle, dine well and enjoy the sound and landscape of the river.

Day 08

Nile time and onward departure

Enjoy a final morning at the river—perhaps a gentle boat activity, a walk or simply the lodge—before your private transfer to Entebbe for departure. We can also extend the route with more Nile time when you do not want the journey to end quickly.

Before you decide

Useful answers for this primate journey.

Can I do one trek rather than two?

Yes. We can keep one gorilla trek and use the second forest day for rest, a community experience or a more unhurried lodge stay. The right choice depends on your interests, fitness and the pace you want.

Are chimpanzee and gorilla permits handled together?

We check and advise on both early. Their availability helps us create the most sensible order of travel before other parts of the route are finalised.

Is the Nile finish suitable for luxury travel?

Yes. It is especially good for travellers who value a high level of comfort, privacy and a slower final chapter after the emotional energy of the forests.
