How it began

A travel story that became a safari company.

The company began after years spent travelling through Tanzania, photographing wildlife and learning what makes a safari feel rewarding on the ground. After training as a safari guide, the founder began sharing those experiences and was soon asked to help people plan journeys of their own.

That is still the purpose of The Roaming Masai Guide Safaris: to turn your travel idea into a private route with the right pace, the right places to stay and enough time for the experiences that matter to you.

The name, explained

The story behind The Roaming Masai Guide.

A friend called the founder mzuraji—a Swahili word for someone who loves moving from place to place. The name first became part of her travel storytelling, then evolved into The Roaming Masai Guide after she trained as a safari guide.

It is a personal connection to the company’s Maasai roots and its founding story.

A note from the founder

“Every journey begins with listening. My team and I will be honest about where to spend time, where to stay and the details that will make your safari feel right for you.”

What clients can expect

Personal planning, with straight answers from the beginning.

We want you to understand the choices that shape your safari before you commit: where the route is strong, what the accommodation changes, and how the days will actually feel.

01

Listen before we suggest

Your dates, people, interests and preferred pace come first. The itinerary is built around those answers, not the other way around.

02

Explain the useful differences

We make mid-range, luxury and high-end options clear in terms of setting, privacy, service and the way they change the trip.

03

Keep the route realistic

Driving time, arrival days, park flow and lodge position are considered early, so the journey feels right in real life—not only on a page.

Private game drive in Tanzania

More than moving between parks

The goal is to help you experience the place, not simply pass through it.

Tanzania is home to extraordinary wildlife, landscapes and communities—from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Tarangire, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar. We use local knowledge to make the route feel coherent, allowing the landscape, wildlife and lodge time to have their own place in the journey.

Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda can be added when they make sense for your dates and interests. We will be direct if a connection is too tight or if a simpler route would give you a better trip.

Planning that works on the ground

Good safari planning is practical, personal and well paced.

We balance the route, lodge location, road or flight connections and the time you need in each place. The result is a private journey that feels easy to travel and clear to understand before you book.

Questions clients ask

Clear answers before you travel.

Will a Maasai guide lead my safari?

Not necessarily. The company name reflects the founder’s personal story and Maasai identity. Your guide is assigned according to the country, route, language requirements and professional experience best suited to your safari.

Will my journey be private?

Yes. We plan private journeys with your own vehicle and guide, then tailor the daily rhythm around the people travelling and the experiences you care about.

Can you plan mid-range as well as luxury and high-end safaris?

Yes. We plan across those levels and explain the practical difference in accommodation, privacy, setting and service so you can choose with confidence.

Can you combine more than one East African country?

Yes. Tanzania can be combined with Kenya, Uganda or Rwanda when the dates and routing support it. We recommend only the combinations that will feel good to travel.
